The Director-General of the  Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Oluwatoyin Gafaar, on Friday said that the Team Lagos would perform excellently well in the 2022 edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF) that would hold in Asaba.

Gafaar said this on the sidelines of the finals of  the 2022 Legacy Volleyball Championships played at the Indoor Sports Hall of  the National Stadium, Surulere in Lagos State.

Gafaar noted that there were lots of positives in the camp of the Team Lagos and that the squad was ready to win the national Olympic to be hosted by Delta .

NAN reports that the 21st NSF to be hosted by Delta  will have no fewer than  11,000 athletes  from across the 36 states of the federation and from  the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The tournament which would start on  Nov. 28 when athletes and their officials would be expected to arrive Delta would  end on Dec. 10.

Gafaar said that the team had received immense support from the sports-loving Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and the Sports Commission, hence, they were ready to go for the gong.

“Lagos is always busy with sports. We have a loaded calendar because tournaments staged in Lagos are all about sports’ developments, participation and hope to see the athletes engaged.

“We have a good sporting culture and whatever we are doing is for the support and development of sports.

“Team Lagos is fully prepared and charged to win the NSF. This 2022 edition is going to be different positively because we are going to perform better than  we did in the previous editions.

“You can mark my word; we want to win.  We are fully prepared, the spirit in the camp is high,” he said.

Gafaar noted that the officials had ensured close monitoring  of and training for the Team Lagos, while the players on their part had shown enthusiasm.

“I have moved round the camp and what I had seen is pleasant. I have found enthusiasm which I have yet to see before now.

“I am sure that the contingent to the 2022 edition of the  NSF will not disappoint given the level of their preparations,” he said.
