Liverpool produced a commanding performance at Anfield, defeating Galatasaray 4-0 to overturn a first-leg deficit and secure a place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

The English side, led by manager Arne Slot, dominated from start to finish, sealing a convincing aggregate victory and setting up a high-profile clash with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)

Dominik Szoboszlai gave Liverpool the breakthrough in the 25th minute, finishing off a well-executed set-piece to level the tie on aggregate.

Despite controlling the first half, Liverpool missed a chance to extend their lead when Mohamed Salah saw his penalty saved by Galatasaray goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir

Liverpool returned after the break with renewed intensity, scoring three goals in a devastating 11-minute spell that effectively ended the contest.

New signing Hugo Ekitike restored momentum in the 51st minute, finishing from close range after a precise assist from Salah.

Just moments later, Ryan Gravenberch capitalized on a rebound after another Salah attempt was denied, pushing Liverpool further ahead.

Salah then sealed the victory in style with a powerful long-range strike in the 62nd minute, marking a historic milestone as he became the first African player to score 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League.

Galatasaray struggled to respond despite tactical adjustments from head coach Okan Buruk A potential goal was ruled out for offside, and the Turkish side found it difficult to break through Liverpool’s defense.

The visitors were further weakened by the absence of their travelling supporters and an injury to Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen who was substituted at halftime after suffering a suspected arm fracture.

Goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir delivered an impressive individual performance, making several crucial saves to prevent a heavier defeat.

Liverpool’s victory ensures two Premier League clubs progress to the quarter-finals, with  Arsenal also advancing and set to face Sporting CP

Meanwhile, English sides Manchester City Chelsea Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have already exited the competition.

For Arne Slot, the win marks his first appearance in the Champions League quarter-finals as Liverpool manager, as attention now shifts to their upcoming showdown with Luis Enrique’s PSG
