Moniepoint Microfinance Bank has denied any role in the arrest or detention of individuals allegedly linked to criticism of its services, amid growing public discussions on the issue.

The clarification was made on Wednesday in Lagos by the bank’s Public and Media Relations Manager Mr Bemigho Awala, during a briefing with journalists.

Awala stated that the financial institution neither authorised nor facilitated the arrest of any customer or individual for expressing dissatisfaction with its services.

He emphasised that Moniepoint supports customers’ rights to voice concerns, provide feedback, and question its operations without fear of retaliation.

According to him, customer feedback remains a key part of the company’s strategy, with tools such as Net Promoter Score (NPS) surveys used regularly to improve service delivery and product offerings.

He added that insights gathered from users have directly influenced the introduction of new products and enhancements to existing services.

Addressing recent developments, Awala disclosed that the bank had observed certain suspicious activities and subsequently reported them to law enforcement agencies for investigation.

He noted that the matter is currently before the court and is being handled in accordance with Nigerian laws, stressing that the institution would respect due process.

The spokesperson declined further comments on the case, citing ongoing legal proceedings.

Awala also acknowledged public concerns surrounding the issue and reiterated the bank’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and customer satisfaction.

He assured customers that Moniepoint remains focused on delivering reliable financial services and maintaining the trust of millions of users across Nigeria.

Reports earlier in the year indicated that the Nigeria Police Force filed charges against two individuals over alleged online activities related to the bank.

The case, reportedly pursued under Nigeria’s cybercrime laws, has sparked wider conversations about digital conduct, misinformation, and customer rights within the financial services sector.
