The Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) on Friday formally  admitted 4,667 students for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The university also secured the National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation for its seven colleges.

Freedomonline  reports that the matriculation ceremony took place at the university’s main campus at Oto/Ijanikin.

LASUED runs two campuses – Epe and Oto/ Ijanikin.

The  Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bidemi Lafiaji-Okunneye, charged the students to strive for excellence.

She said,” It gives me great honour to welcome you all to this auspicious occasion marking the third matriculation of the full-time degree students of this university.

“Let me begin by congratulating today’s matriculating students on this significant milestone.

“Your admission into LASUED is not just a reflection of your academic accomplishments but also a testament to your determination and potential to excel.

“We recognise the effort and sacrifices that have brought you to this moment, and we are delighted to have you join our rapidly-growing family.”

She said that LASUED’s vision was to become a world-class information and knowledge resource centre and a classy and sought-after university within the first five years of its operations.

“As a matter of priority, we have ever embraced this mandate with resilience, proactiveness, commitment and determination.

“The school has been steadfastly committed to its tripodal mission of teaching, scientific investigations and community service.

“The school maintains zero tolerance for  indolence and vice of any kind, and therefore, will not condone any unruly behaviour. Desist from violence acts,” she warned.

Lafiaji-Okunneye expressed delight that the university secured the NUC accreditation within a short period of existence.

She attributed the feat to  resourcefulness of the university’s staff and improved facilities.

She listed LASUED’s colleges to include  Humanities Education,  Science Education, and Information and Technology Education.

According to the vice-chancellor, the others  are Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education,  Management and Social Sciences Education, Specialised and Professional Education, and  Language and Communication Arts Education.

The vice-chancellor said that all the seven colleges were accredited by NUC.
