Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, says Mr Justin Abuah, the late Director of Information in the Presidential Villa, was “very quiet, self-effacing and dedicated to duties’’.

The minister made the statement in Abuja on Wednesday when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased.

The minister was accompanied by the Managing Director of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr Bayo Onanuga, the Director of Press and Protocol in the Ministry of Information, Mr Peter Dama, and his Special Adviser, Mr Segun Adeyemi.

He said that Abuah’s death came at a time he was still much needed and that he would be greatly missed by friends, colleagues and cotemporaries.

The minister encouraged the wife, Mrs Loretta Abuah, to be strong and take solace in the fact that the husband left good legacies behind.

The minister said that the deceased was a member of staff of the ministry who was on secondment to the Presidential Villa, where he proved his mettle.

He also recalled that Abuah was a contemporary of Onanuga in the University of Lagos and also secured employment in NAN the same day with his Special Adviser, Adeyemi.

Mohammed said the ministry would do everything possible to assist the family.

The brother of the deceased, Mr Arnold Abuah, who responded on behalf of the family, thanked the minister and members of his entourage for the visit.

Arnold said they were encouraged by the visit and display of love by the minister and his entourage.
