Lagos Trade Fair: Exhibitors employ strategies to woo customers

Exhibitors at the ongoing 2015 Lagos International Trade Fair, on Saturday, employed various marketing strategies to woo customers to their stands.
The strategies included products sampling, discounts on products, free hairdo, free makeovers, gifts and price slash.
Mrs Eme Ugwuegbu, the Chief Executive of Sahara Sunrise, exhibitors of beauty products, said that giving free samples of her products to visitors was a form of products’ promotion and recognition.
“The usage of natural products for maintaining our skin is very important to health; we give out free samples of our products to visitors to show that we care, promote sales and for continued usage.”
Mrs Jumoke Epulemechi, the Sales Manager, Bicu & Sons Ltd., said that every customer that purchased haircare products would get free hairdo and promotional items like T-shirts, pen and notebooks.
She said that the company was not only advertising the quality of its haircare, but also demonstrating the efficacy through professional advice and styling of hair.
Mr Oriyomi Falomo, the Assistant Manager, Chi Nigeria Ltd., said that the company had reduced prices of its products by three to five per cent discount on cartons purchased at the fair.
“We are offering an unbeatable price slash to encourage patronage of our products,” he said.
Mr Tony Okwuba, CHief Executive of Somac Nigeria Ltd., said: “We are at the fair to create awareness for our new cosmetic products by giving samples to visitors so that they can embrace the products when it finally gets to market.”
Miss Toke Olaoluwa, a sales representative of GOTV, said that the cable was being sold for N2,900 at the fair against the normal price of N4, 200.
There are several side attractions like painted mascots, music blaring from speakers, Disco Jockeys and dancers,
The fair, which started on November 6, will end on November 15.
