COMMUNIQUE ISSUED BY THE LAGOS PDP YOUTH LIKE MINDS AT THE END OF ITS INAUGURAL MEETING IN IKEJA, LAGOS STATE ON FRIDAY, 20TH DECEMBER 2024.
The communique points out the following key issues regarding party affairs in the state:
A. Appreciation to Like Minds members who defied numerous obstacles, including hectic schedules and traffic congestion due to the president’s presence in Ikeja yesterday, to attend the meeting.
B. The Like Minds commends to party Leaders, elders and managers for maintaining party operations despite significant challenges resulting from last year’s elections.
C. The Like Minds accords special appreciation to the LGA Chairmen Forum for their tireless LGA tours. Such moves were needed to galvanize members across the wards.
D. The Like Minds urges more youths within the party to engage more practically and constructively beyond social media commentaries.
E. Pleas to party leaders, elders and structures across all levels to push forward more competent individuals for party management at all levels.
F. Tasks the State Working Committee to ensure effective media and publicity operations, in order to play the much needed opposition, that Lagos requires.
G. The Like Minds urges the party to motivate members and harness the PDI through empowerment, workshops, and symposium. As the Like Minds appreciates leaders whom have continued to empower members of the party in the state.
H. The Like Minds continues to urge our party in state, to strategise for forthcoming elections by encouraging competent young people to aspire for positions ahead of the 2025 Local Government elections and party congresses.
I. The Like Minds implores the party to actively engage zonal officers, in the wards, as they are the closest to the people and the polling units.
J. The Like Minds urges the party to address security and electoral challenges usually encountered and recommend solutions before and during elections.
K. The Like Minds pleads with the party to prioritize the election of competent candidates for future elections.
L. The Like Minds further urges the party to also prioritise candidate-aspirant(s) bonding, immediately after party primaries.
M. A follow-up meeting of the Like Minds shall be scheduled after the holiday season, which may include meeting with various leaders and the Youth leadership.
N. The Lagos PDP Youth Like Minds will round up by extending appreciation to members for their loyalty to the party and wishing them and all Lagosians, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
