The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed the suspension of Chief Olabode George and 23 other members in a move aimed at protecting the party’s identity and preventing internal confusion.
Chief Muka Popoola, Lagos PDP Chairman and loyalist to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, said the reaffirmation aligns with an earlier National Executive Committee (NEC) decision. He explained that the state chapter merely restated the existing disciplinary action taken in 2025.
Popoola alleged that some suspended members had associated with other political parties while still presenting themselves as PDP affiliates, creating divisions and misleading the public. “Individuals leaving the PDP should relinquish the party identity when joining other platforms,” he said.
The Lagos PDP disciplinary committee, led by Elder Kayode Ogunbiyi, reviewed petitions concerning anti-party activities, including breaches of the PDP Constitution and engagement in unauthorized alliances. Among those suspended are Mrs. Aduke Maina, Dr. Abimbola Ogunkelu, Mr. Laja Adeoye, Capt. Tunji Shelle, and others.
The committee warned that suspended members are barred from participating in PDP activities or representing the party in any capacity. Legal action may be pursued against any member found acting against PDP interests in the state.
Popoola also dismissed claims of a sanctioned alliance between the PDP and the Allied People’s Movement (APM), stating that no PDP organ had approved such collaboration ahead of the 2027 general elections. He reiterated that while members are free to join other parties, they must not attribute unauthorized agreements or positions to the PDP.
