The Lagos Fanti Carnival came alive at Tafawa Balewa Square, attracting a large and diverse audience who gathered to celebrate culture, music, and entertainment.

The event featured colourful parades, traditional performances, and live appearances by top Nigerian artistes, creating a festive atmosphere that lasted throughout the day.

From the early pre-carnival activities to the main procession and stage performances, attendees were treated to a rich blend of cultural heritage and modern entertainment.

Live performances by popular Nigerian artistes including Teni, Niniola, 9ice, Reminisce, and Terry Apala were among the major highlights of the carnival.

DJs Hanni and Wandi also set the tone early, energising the crowd with dynamic music mixes.

Niniola’s energetic stage presence, alongside her dance crew, drew loud cheers, while Teni’s performance further thrilled the audience.

Many participants described the event as exciting and memorable.

A first-time attendee, Agbaje Ayo, said he enjoyed the lively atmosphere and performances.

“I came to have fun and I’m impressed by how engaging everything has been,” he said.

Similarly, Itunu Oyedele a model, described the carnival as refreshing and entertaining, adding that she would gladly attend future editions.

Entrepreneur Franky Bassey praised the overall organisation and performances, noting that the artistes delivered exceptional entertainment.

For Beatrice Adedeji, a businesswoman, the cultural displays stood out.

She said the performances by traditional groups were particularly enjoyable, even though the weather was intense.

A student, Devine Agada, also shared his excitement but admitted that the long duration of the event left him exhausted.

Beyond the music, several cultural groups showcased traditional performances, highlighting Lagos’ rich heritage.

Participating groups included the Okepopo Fanti Carnival Association, Okoo-Faji Carnival Association, Brazilian Campos Carreta Carnival Association, and the Olowogbowo Fancy Carnival Association.

Their colourful costumes, dance routines, and artistic displays added depth to the celebration, blending history with modern-day festivities.

The Lagos Fanti Carnival continues to serve as a platform for cultural expression, tourism, and entertainment.

With strong turnout and vibrant performances, this year’s edition reinforced its status as one of the city’s most anticipated cultural events.
