Lagos Badminton holds Inter-Clubs Competitions

sportsLagos State Badminton Association will hold its second Quarterly Inter-Clubs Badminton Championship from August 15-16 at the Indoor Hall of the Lagos State Sports Council, Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos.

At least 70 players from various clubs, secondary schools and tertiary institutions in Lagos State will compete in the male and female singles, male and female doubles and mixed doubles events.

The competition is being organized to enable the Lagos State Badminton Association discovers new talents that will represent the state at national and international competitions.

The climax of the competition is the junior category which the association will use to select the athletes to represent the state at the forthcoming National Youth Games scheduled for December in Abuja.

The inter-clubs tourneys are facilitated by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development and the Office of Grassroots Sports Development in the Governor Office.

To make the inter-clubs competition a huge success, the Director of Sports, Lagos State Sports Council, Mrs. Grace Asagba said all the competition venues and logistic supports have been provided for the sports associations.

Asagba said preparation for the next National Sports Festival in Calabar, Cross River State have commenced with training activities by the sports associations .

According to her, all our coaches and contract coaches recruited recently by the Lagos State Government are working and scouting for new talents at the grassroots level.
