A leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Bode Oyedele, has called on residents to support the party’s governorship candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, in the 2027 election.
Oyedele, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Civil Service, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Saturday.
He described victory for Hamzat as important to maintaining what he called the state’s development trajectory.

The APC chieftain urged eligible voters to participate actively in the election, stressing that every vote would contribute to determining the state’s political direction.
He also appealed to Lagos residents to vote for APC candidates across the ballot, arguing that retaining the party in government would provide continuity in the state’s development programmes.
Oyedele described Hamzat as an experienced politician with sufficient knowledge of Lagos and its development priorities.
He expressed confidence that the APC candidate would meet residents’ expectations if elected governor.
According to him, Lagos requires experienced leadership capable of building on existing achievements while identifying new areas for economic and social development.
APC leader highlights continuity
Oyedele said continuity in governance was particularly important in areas such as infrastructure, education, transportation, healthcare and human-capital development.
He argued that consistent policies and purposeful leadership could help Lagos sustain its position as a major Nigerian economic centre.
The APC leader said Hamzat would consolidate the achievements of previous administrations and pursue further development if given the mandate in 2027.
Oyedele backs Tinubu for second term
The APC chieftain also called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu for another term in office.
He described Tinubu as a reformer whose administration had introduced measures aimed at repositioning the Nigerian economy.
Oyedele said a second term would give the administration additional time to consolidate its economic reforms and complete ongoing programmes.
He expressed optimism that current economic difficulties would ease as the reforms mature and begin producing broader benefits.
The APC leader urged Nigerians to remain patient and continue supporting policies aimed at creating a stronger and more sustainable economy.
Call for voter participation
Oyedele further encouraged APC supporters and other eligible residents across Lagos to take an active part in the electoral process.
He said citizens should not stay away from polling stations on election day but should participate peacefully and make informed choices.
According to him, the quality of governance and future development of Lagos and Nigeria would depend significantly on the decisions voters make at the polls.
