It was a bad day for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State on Monday as some of its leaders defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
To the defectors – Alhaji Nasiru Ubandawaki, Adebayo Ajimoti, Alhaji Gobir Mohammed, Dr. Mohammed Potun, Rev Bunmi Olusona, Yunus Abdullahi, Alhaji Dele Sarkinwa, Funso Agaka, and Mr. Dada Abiodun, their stay in the PDP was a disaster.
In their joint resignation letter, a copy of which was given to the state’s APC chairman, Alhaji Ishola Balogun-Fulani, “to really show that we have left the PDP”, they traced their defection to a recent meeting held with the APC leader in the state, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and their realisation that the PDP is peopled by those who do not have the interest of the state at heart.
Describing PDP members as “a generation of vipers”, the letter reads: “We make bold to tell Kwarans that they should stay away from the party because it is a sinking ship. We were never comfortable with the environment all the while we were in the PDP due to the practice of politics of bitterness by self-seeking and attention-craving politicians”.
