Kwara Govt to collaborate with FG, stakeholders to boost solid mineral exploration

The Kwara Government has reiterated its commitment to partner with the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development and other relevant stakeholders with the aim of exploration of its solid minerals potentials.

The Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Dr Afees Abolore, stated this while addressing journalists at the Fourth Quarter Inter Ministerial Press briefing on Tuesday in Ilorin.

Abolore said that Kwara had been identified as one of the leading solid mineral producing states in the country.

He said that the Ministry under his watch would utilise the full potentials of the mineral resources to the benefit of the state.

The commissioner also said that the state government had fulfilled the registration requirement of five (5) Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) and now awaiting licenses on or before the end of the first quarter of the year.

Abolore further said that the government was working assiduously to bring illegal mining to the bearest minimum in the state.

He assured that a robust collaboration with relevant security agencies at various levels had already been established and consolidated, in a bid to scale-up security challenges at mining sites across the state.

According to him, the state has received assurances from heads of security agencies in the fight to tackle illegal mining

Earlier in her remarks, the Commissioner for Communications, Mrs Bola Olujoku commended the giant strides made by Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led administration across different sectors.

Olujoku said that the inter ministerial press briefing was aimed at showcasing the impactful achievements of the present administration

The commissioner described the unwavering commitments of the administration across all sectors in the state as notable, visionary and long lasting legacies worthy of emulation.
