Nigeria Police Force

nigeria_police_logoThe Cross River Police Command on Monday announced the release of Etubom Essien Cobham, father of the state’s Deputy Governor, Mr Efiok Cobham, who was abducted by unknown gunmen on Friday

A statement by Mr Hogan Bassey, the Police Public Relations Officer, in Calabar said that Cobham was released by his abductors on Sunday.

He did not give details as to how the elder statesman was released or whether any ransom had been paid.

“Pa Cobham has been released; he was released due to pressure from the police,’’ Bassey said.

Gunmen took away Cobham around 2.a.m. on Friday from his Creek Town’s country home in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River.

Witnesses said that the deputy governor’s uncle, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was also abducted by the gunmen.

The man was also released.
