Newcastle of England striker, Shola Ameobi, has confirmed to the Super Eagles chief coach, Steohen Keshi that he would be fit for the Mandela Cup Challenge in South Africa after he sustained an arm injury in weekend’s pre-season game.
Keshi disclosed that Ameobi told him in a telephone conversation that though he actually sustained an arm injury at the weekend, but it was only a knock that won’t prevent him from playing the Eagles game in August.
“I have spoken to Shola and the guy is fit and healthy and will be available for the Mandela Challenge. He told me so himself, so any other news to the contrary I don’t believe.”
Meanwhile, the home-based Eagles team ahead of the CHAN qualifiers gane against Cote d’Ivoire Monday resumed their preparations for the second leg tie in Abuja with the coaching crew concentrating on shooting and accuracy in front of goal.
