Former Nigerian youth international, Olanrewaju Kayode, scored a brace for his Israeli side, Maccabi Netanya, in their 3-3 draw with Maccabi Tel Aviv at the weekend.
Kayode, who was part of John Obuh’s team to the 2013 FIFA World Cup in Turkey, has been in fine form in the Israeli Ligat HaAl this season.
The 21-year-old scored his first goal in the 15th minute of the game at the near capacity Netanya Stadium but Maccabi Tel Aviv hit back five minutes later through Dor Micha to tie the game at 1-1.
Kayode restored Maccabi Netanya’s lead in the game four minutes from the break as they took control of the game.
Maccabi Tel Aviv were able to rally back from the deficit to go in front through goals from Eden Ben Basat and the experienced Eran Zahavi as they assumed control of the game.
Dia Saba’s goal for Maccabi Netanya in the 79th minute was able to rescue a point for the home side as they held off the visitors to earn a share of the spoils.
Kayode’s two goals against Maccabi Tel Aviv has taken his tally this season to eight goals.
