kano_pillarsThe technical crew members of Kano Pillars Football Club Thursday cheated death when their official car was involved in an accident that claimed life of a roadside mechanic, while the crew members were badly injured.

The team played their quarter-final game of the 2013 Federation Cup in Ilorin on Wednesday, where they were beaten 3-0 by Warri Wolves.

They took off from Ilorin on Thursday morning to return to Kano where they would host Akwa United in a week 23 game of the Nigerian Premier League this weekend.

The incident that happened at Gangarida in Ikara Local Government area of Kaduna state at about 2pm local time saw the front wheel tyre of the vehicle conveying the technical crew pulled off and the car ran to hit a parked trailer, and killed a mechanic named Abdu from Yobe state.

Kano Pillars Media Officer, Idris Malikawa, confirmed the incident and noted that three Kano Pillars officials were also injured.

He said: “Please be informed that the technical crew of Kano Pillars had an accident in Kaduna on their way to Kano from Ilorin today. The sad event happened after the car’s front tyre bursts forcing the vehicle to collide with a parked trailer, which killed a motor mechanic (Abdu) from Yobe state. The Acting Technical Adviser, Baba Ganaru, chief coach Maikaba and coach Kabiru were injured and were admitted at the Kwanar Dangora clinic and have been transferred to the Murtala Hospital in Kano.
