kano_pillarsThe entire team of Globacom Premier League defending champions, Kano Pillars Football Club, Wednesday sang the praise of the Kano state Governor, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, for rewarding them with cash and cars for winning the 2012/2013 Nigeria Premier League.

Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso doled out cash reward of N500,000 to each players, while each of the team official got N750,000.

In addition to the cash, the champions also got a Kia Picanto car each as a fulfilment of the Governor’s promise after the team won their second league championship.

Eagles midfielder Rabiu Ali said the entire team are grateful to the Governor.

“I feel so happy to be part of this, it was a great moment for me. I thank the Governor for rewarding us. This will go a long way to motivate us to do more as we fight to retain our title,” Ali said.

Former players of the team who contributed to this success last season also praised Governor Kwakwanso.

They argued he could as well have been excluded rom the largesse if he wanted.

Plateau United left back John Boyi Yampee stated that he was happy with the reward.

“I am happy to be counted among those who were rewarded by Governor Kwakwanso. He did well to have put us in this, he could have said we won’t be given since we are no more with the team but he didn’t. We appreciate this,” Boyi said.

Ex-Pillars players who were part of this largesse were: John Boyi(Plateau United), Abubakar Baleri(Wikki), Siman Yusuf(Kaduna Utd), Victor Namo(Nasarawa Utd), Musa Musa(Wikki), Papa Idris and Reuben Gabriel(Kilmarnock, Scotland).
