Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has appealed for assistance for victims of recent market fire outbreaks in Kano metropolis.
The governor made the appeal on Monday in Kano while inaugurating a 41-man appeal fund committee to coordinate assistance for the victims.

He urged the committee to identify and reach out to state and federal governments, individuals and international organisations for donations.

He also urged them to organise and facilitate launching of appeal funds.

The governor mandated members of the committee, market leaders and appropriate government agencies to ascertain the actual number of victims.

He urged them to liaise with the Ministry of Finance to open a dedicated account for the fund.

The committee was given six weeks to submit its report.

Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, gave the assurance that the members would carry out the assignment with utmost diligence.

He thanked the government for the opportunity to serve and promised that the committee would ensure that it delivered on its mandate.

Other members of the committee are Alhaji Dahiru Mangal and Tajudeen Dantata among others.

Alhaji Ibrahim Kankarofi will serve as Secretary of the committee.
