pius_osunyikanmiPresident Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday approved the appointment of Dr Pius Osunyikanmi, as the new Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Technical Aid Corps (TAC).

A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, said the appointment takes immediate effect.

Abati said Osunyikanmi succeeded Mr Mamman Daura, whose tenure as director-general of the corps expired in June.

Osunyikanmi, a native of Ile-Oluji in Ondo State, was until his appointment, Special Adviser to the President on International Relations.

Born on Aug. 3, 1971, Osunyikanmi holds a Doctorate Degree in Political Science from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

He previously served in several capacities, including Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo State on Intergovernmental Affairs and Multilateral Relations from 2009 to 2010.

He was also a Commissioner for Education in Ondo State in 2010.

Abati said Osunyikanmi’s appointment was in furtherance of Jonathan’s commitment to strengthen the directorate’s institutional and operational capacity.

Established in 1987, the corps is a Foreign Policy mechanism to deliver Technical Manpower Assistance to the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries.
