Jigawa Stars coach Odeh sets benchmark

Former Super Falcons assistant coach, Rolandson Odeh, who is currently the Technical Adviser of Nigeria National League side, Jigawa Golden Stars, has set a benchmark for his team in the league.

The coach who was a former chief coach City of David (COD) Football Club of Lagos disclosed that, he has told his players that they must win five straight matches so as to finish on high at the end of the season a situation that would see the team grab a promotion ticket to play in the Nigeria Premier League from where they were relegated some seasons ago.

Odeh said: “We have resolved to cash in on the victory against TEAP FC to build a five-match unbeaten record. Our take-off point will be Matchday 21 game at Sokoto United then we will come back home to face Spotlight and DSS. We are confident to meet the target if not surpass the mark.

“The players did excellently well against TEAP to deserve victory and if they continue on that speed we will not only climb out from the drop zone but challenge for a good finish on the log.

“TEAP gave us a tough challenge but met a side determined not to drop point,” said former Super Falcons and Rivers Angels coach to supersport.com.

The Dutse-based side recorded a 2-0 win against visiting TEAP FC on Matchday 20 encounter on Saturday.

Striker, Joseph Apashi scored from the penalty spot in the 35th minute to put his side ahead while central defender, Sunday Obodo got the second in the 68th minute.

The victory has taken the side’s points haul to 26 from a possible 60.

Odeh said his wards will take the winning aura to Sokoto United on Matchday 21.
