I received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Rev. Jesse Jackson, a towering figure in the global struggle for justice, equality and human dignity.
My friendship with him began in 1998 when he served as Special Envoy for the Promotion of Democracy in Africa. From that moment, I came to know him not only as an international icon, but as a compassionate and courageous advocate for the oppressed. His commitment to civil rights and democratic ideals inspired generations across continents.
The world has lost a moral voice and a bridge-builder of rare courage.
On behalf of my family and the great people I represent in National Assembly , I extend my heartfelt condolences to his loved ones and associates. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
