Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, widely known as Jandor, has officially acquired the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to vie for the Lagos State governorship seat in the upcoming 2027 elections.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Wednesday in Lagos, through Jandor’s spokesperson, Mr. Gbenga Ogunleye. This move comes amid growing support for Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, who has been endorsed as the APC’s consensus candidate by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the party’s Governance Advisory Council (GAC).

In his statement, Jandor emphasized his dedication to the party’s internal democratic processes. He stressed that his decision to purchase the forms reflects his respect for the APC’s rules and procedures. He also voiced strong support for the adoption of direct primaries for all elective offices.

“This step reflects my disciplined adherence to the party’s established processes and my unwavering belief in the internal democratic mechanisms of the APC,” Jandor said. “I reiterate my full alignment with the party’s official position on the adoption of direct primaries. I am confident that this approach will further deepen participatory democracy, strengthen party cohesion, and give every member a sense of ownership in the emergence of candidates,” he added.

Jandor further reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC’s national leadership, and the leadership of the Lagos State chapter.

Jandor also expressed gratitude to the party stakeholders and supporters who have backed his campaign, while acknowledging the rights of other aspirants within the party. “While expressing deep appreciation to party leaders and stakeholders who have graciously endorsed me as their preferred aspirant, I also respect the legitimate rights of others who have chosen to support other aspirants,” he said. “Such diversity of opinion remains a hallmark of a vibrant and democratic political party.”

He extended special thanks to the JAGABAN–JANDOR 2027 Movement, a coalition of young Lagosians, for their contributions toward the procurement of the nomination forms.

In his closing remarks, Jandor reaffirmed his commitment to unity and inclusive governance, stating that his campaign would focus on advancing the progressive ideals of Lagos State. “My aspiration remains anchored on unity, inclusiveness, and the continuous pursuit of excellence in governance under the banner of the APC,” he concluded.

Jandor’s candidacy adds an interesting dynamic to the race for the 2027 Lagos governorship election, with several political leaders and stakeholders continuing to weigh in on the emerging field of aspirants.
