The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the registration period for the 2026 Direct Entry (DE) admission exercise to May 8, 2026.

This decision was officially announced by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja. The move aims to ensure that no eligible candidate is excluded from accessing tertiary education.

Benjamin confirmed that the extension replaces the previous deadline for the registration process, offering more time for candidates to complete their applications.

In response to the high demand for registration services, JAMB has approved five additional registration centres across the country. These centres are designed to ease congestion at existing locations and provide greater access for candidates. The newly approved centres are:

1. Centre for Open and Distance Learning (CODL), Mini Campus, University of Ilorin, Kwara

2. Bells University of Technology, Ogun

3. Olabisi Onabanjo University Centre 1, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun**

4. Prof. Usman E-Learning Centre, Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo State

5. Human Development Initiatives (Grace House), Iwaya, Sabo, Onike, Lagos

These centres will be operational during the extended registration period, ensuring more efficient processing of applications.

Benjamin also urged prospective candidates to make the most of the registration extension, noting that JAMB offices nationwide, along with Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) and Professional Testing Centres (PTCs), remain open to facilitate the registration process.

Candidates who have not yet registered for the 2026 Direct Entry admission exercise are encouraged to visit their nearest centres and complete their applications before the final deadline.

With the extension, JAMB aims to provide equitable access to tertiary education opportunities for all eligible Nigerian students.
