The Association of Nigeria Theatre-Arts Practitioners (ANTP) is making waves in Nigeria’s performing industry.
Recently, they observed their second “Iwure Day,” a yearly prayer session initiated by their National President, Dr. Rasak Oyadiran. The event aims to seek God’s guidance and blessings for the Association’s endeavors throughout the year.

This year’s ceremony took place in Ososa, Ogun State, where High Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon, Pastor Bisi Sunday, and Alfa Mukadam offered prayers for the wellbeing of performing artists, the creative industry, and Nigeria.
The event also featured a tour of the Hubert Ogunde Memorial Museum and a special performance by Elder Oyewole Olowomojuore, who sang one of Ogunde’s songs.
Oba Alatisa and the Baba Oba of Ososa, High Chief Richard Ayo Ogunde, also prayed for the thespians and urged them to embrace unity.
The ANTP has a rich history, dating back to 1970 when Chief Hubert Ogunde founded the Union of Nigerian Dramatists and Playwrights. Over the years, the Association has undergone transformations, becoming the Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP) in 1976 and later the Association of Nigeria Theatre-Arts Practitioners (ANTP) in 1994.

As the ANTP prepares for its 50th anniversary, it’s clear that the Association remains committed to promoting Nigeria’s performing arts. With initiatives like the Iwure Day, they’re fostering a sense of community and seeking divine guidance for their endeavours.
