Iwobi pleased choosing Nigeria over England

Arsenal starlet, Alex Iwobi, says he has no regrets choosing Nigeria over England despite representing the latter at youth level in international competitions.
The 19-year-old made his debut for Nigeria in October 2015, but England still harboured hopes of convincing the youngster to play for the Three Lions as the 2-0 win over Niger’s Mena was a friendly.
Those hopes were dashed as Iwobi made his competitive debut for the Super Eagles in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nation (Afcon) in March.
“I understand why some England fans are surprised with my decision. It was a difficult one to make, one I thought very carefully about. I have no regrets. I have always been part of the England youth set-up and have 11 caps at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 levels.
“But when I was first invited by the Nigeria FA, my dad told me to follow my heart and that is what I have done,” Iwobi told the Sun.
Iwobi has been in great form for Arsenal this season scoring twice and providing two assists in his first three league starts for the Gunners.
