Iran’s Foreign Minister Accuses Trump of Undermining Diplomacy After Strikes

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, has accused U.S. President Donald Trump of sabotaging diplomatic efforts and betraying American voters following recent military strikes during ongoing nuclear discussions.

In a message posted on social media platform X, Araghchi criticized what he described as a transactional approach to sensitive nuclear negotiations. He said that treating complex diplomatic talks like business deals, combined with what he called misinformation, made meaningful progress impossible.

According to him, the strikes amounted to “bombing the negotiation table,” which he said reflected hostility toward diplomacy and a breach of trust with the American electorate.

The comments come after coordinated U.S. and Israeli airstrikes targeted Tehran and other Iranian cities beginning Saturday. The attacks reportedly resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, along with several family members, senior military officials, and civilians.

Iran subsequently launched multiple waves of missile and drone strikes against Israeli positions and U.S. interests in the region.

The escalation occurred after three rounds of indirect nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran, with a fourth round previously planned.

In a separate statement, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei cautioned that some European Union countries risk aligning themselves with what he termed U.S.-Israeli aggression. Writing on X, he warned that appearing supportive of the strikes could place those nations “on the wrong side of history.”
