Iran Hits Tel Aviv with Cluster Missiles After Top Leader’s Killing

Iran has launched a missile strike on Tel Aviv, deploying cluster warheads in what it described as retaliation for the killing of its senior security figure, Ali Larijani.

According to Iranian state media, the overnight attack resulted in at least two fatalities in areas near central Tel Aviv, raising the overall death toll in Israel since the conflict escalated to about 14.

In a statement broadcast on state television, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed that the strike involved advanced missile systems, including Khorramshahr-4 and Qadr missiles equipped with multiple warheads.

Israeli authorities have accused Iran of repeatedly deploying cluster munitions, which disperse smaller explosives over a wide area, making them difficult to intercept and increasing the risk to civilian populations.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials reported that a projectile landed near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, but stated that there were no casualties or structural damage.

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, urged all parties to exercise restraint to avoid triggering a nuclear-related crisis amid the ongoing hostilities.

The latest escalation follows confirmation by Iranian authorities that Larijani was killed in an Israeli strike, alongside his son and a senior aide, Alireza Bayat.

The development comes amid a broader conflict involving Israel and the United States, which have maintained that preventing Iran from advancing its nuclear programme remains a key objective.

Tensions have further intensified after the earlier killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, during the initial phase of the conflict.

Iran’s new leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has reportedly rejected calls for de-escalation, stating that negotiations would only be considered after perceived adversaries accept defeat.

In a separate development, Iranian authorities confirmed the execution of Kurosh Keyvani, who was convicted of espionage for Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad.

Beyond Israel, the conflict has spread into neighbouring countries. In Beirut, an Israeli airstrike struck the Bachoura district after residents were warned to evacuate.

Additional strikes were reported across southern and eastern Lebanon, as Israel intensified operations against the Iran-backed Hezbollah.

The unfolding situation highlights a widening regional conflict with increasing humanitarian and geopolitical implications.
