The 7th Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri on Sunday announced a 24-hour curfew on Maiduguri, Borno State following suspected insurgents’ attacks near the city.
Spokesman of the Division, Col. Sani Usman, said this in a statement in Maiduguri.
He stated that “be informed of the imposition of a curfew on Maiduguri immediately.
“The curfew will remain till further notice.’’
Insurgents had attempted to gain entrance into Maiduguri through Jimtilo, on Maiduguri-Kano road on Saturday night.
The attempt was repelled by the military.
The 7 Division later announced that the 24-hour curfew would be lifted on Monday morning.
Usman said: “Please be informed that the curfew will last till 6 a.m. tomorrow (Monday) morning.
“Therefore, people can go about their legitimate businesses as from 6 a.m. in the morning”.
