Super Eagles chief coach, Stephen Keshi, says he is not moved by the series of injuries being sustained by top Eagles foreign-based stars who have been dropping out one after the other from the team’s busy June schedule.
Players like 2013 Nations Cup hero Emmanuel Emenike, Scotland-based Gabriel Reuben, Kalu Uche, Victor Moses and lately Mikel Obi had to pull-out of his team ahead of the international friendly against Mexico, the June 5 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Kenya and the Confederations Cup coming up later in June in Brazil.
Aside from those who have indicated their withdrawals from the busy June schedule, those left for Keshi to rely fully on to get desired results have also been strolling into the team’s camp leisurely in Germany.
The former national team captain, stressed that, he is unperturbed about the whole situation as the team naturally would fall into place in the next couple of days as those already in camp are eager to get shirts to prove themselves worthy of first team places in the Eagles.
“I have never turned my back from challenges. I have confronted them one-on-one all my life. I have very good relationship with my players, and we respect ourselves mutually.”
He noted that the players who have been invited are patriotic Nigerians and they are always ready to play for the country.
“We have 16 players here now and team spirit is high. Everyone wants to play.”
The coach also explained that he actually expected the foreign-based stars to arrive camp a little late as they have just concluded playing in the highly competitive leagues across Europe.
“Most of the players have just concluded very tough seasons and there is the need for them to sort out some personal issues which may include signing of fresh deals and extensions as they would be away with the national team for about seven weeks.
