The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed December 5 for the conduct of supplementary election to conclude the governorship poll in Kogi held on Saturday.
A statement by the commission in Abuja on Tuesday said that the exercise would be conducted in the 91 polling units where voting was cancelled on Saturday due to some irregularities.
According to the statement signed by INEC’s Secretary, Mrs Augusta Ogakwu, the commission will also allow the All Progressives Congress (APC) to replace its governorship candidate, the late Prince Abubakar Audu, in the election.
“The commission, has after due consideration of the circumstances, decided to conclude the process by conducting election in the 91 affected polling units as announced by the returning officer.
“It also decided to allow the APC to fill the vacancy created by the death of its candidate.
“Accordingly, notice is hereby given to all the 22 political parties participating in the Kogi governorship election that supplementary election in the 91 affected polling units shall hold on December 5,’’ the commission said.
