Imo election: Uzodinma remains governor as Supreme Court dismisses Ihedioha’s application to review judgement

The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, dismissed an application filed by Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), asking it to review a judgement on Imo governorship that declared Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the March 9, 2019 election.
Ihedioha and the PDP had approached the court after the apex court, on January 14, nullified his victory and declared Uzodinma as winner of the election.
Six of the seven-member panel led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Mohammed, and delivered by Justice Kayode Ariwoola, dismissed the suit for lacking in merit.
Justice C.C. Nweze had a dissenting opinion. 
It was the end of the road for Ihedioha to retrieve his mandate at the apex court.
Ihedioha, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, was sworn-in on May 29, 2019 as governor of the South-East state but sacked on January 14.
Justice Ariwoola said there was no constitutional provision empowering the apex court to sit on appeal, review or set aside its own judgement.
Some APC members were seen jubilating at the court premises.
