I can’t say whether or not APC will participate in proposed national confab – Tinubu

bola_ahmed_tinubuChief Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) , on Saturday said that he could not confirm if his party would participate in the proposed national conference.

He said this in Ikeja, while fielding questions from journalists after his arrival from a medical trip to Chicago in the U.S., where he underwent knee surgery.

Tinubu said that he was just a member of the party and could not take decisions on behalf of the party without consultations.

The APC chieftain, however, said that if the proposed conference must succeed, it must be all-inclusive one, adding that its agenda must also address fundamental issues which would aid the nation-building process.

Tinubu said that he was excited to be back in the country after a long absence.

“I am happy to be back in Nigeria today, after a successful surgery, which was performed with a 21st Century approach in medicine in Chicago, United States of America.

“Some of those experts who facilitated the surgery are Nigerian medical practitioners.

“This is my longest absence from the political scene since 1993; I have never been away for so long except when I was in exile.

“I am glad I am back; I am as fit as a runner and I will beat anybody running,’’ he said.

“The surgery was absolutely necessary, I told Nigerians and I went for it. I am a political leader and I am accountable to my people,” he added.

Tinubu, who had been away for three months, arrived in a chartered jet marked CS-DPF at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, around 1.35pm.

The APC leader, looking fresh in a white Kaftan, was escorted out of the plane by his wife, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun and Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti .

Party chieftains and supporters, family members as well as some members of the National Assembly, including Sen. George Akume, Sen. Ganiu Solomon, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila and Rep. Yakub Balogun, were also at the airport to receive Tinubu.
