Ikeja Electric Plc has confirmed that one of its employees is receiving medical treatment after suffering an electric shock while carrying out repair work on a power facility in Lagos.
The company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Kingsley Okotie, disclosed this in an interview with our correspondence on Thursday.
Okotie said the staff member was injured while working on a power pole in the Gbagada area of Lagos State.
According to him, the employee was immediately rescued and taken to Gbagada General Hospital for medical attention.
“He is receiving medical attention and recuperating now,” Okotie said.
The incident reportedly occurred at Gbagada Bus Stop on Tuesday while the Ikeja Electric worker was carrying out repairs on an elevated power pole.
The situation caused concern among commuters and residents as rescue efforts were carried out at the scene.
Ikeja Electric assured that the affected staff member had been safely evacuated and was responding to treatment.
