As Polo players in Nigeria jostle for honours in the Ibadan International Polo tourney sponsored by MTN, teams from Ibadan, Kano and Lagos were in keen contest for the top prizes in the competition that end on Sunday.
From the results in the games played on the first day of the tourney, Ibadan Lead City won Lagos Awolowo 5-4, while Kano Valda Com recorded first win against its counterpart from Kano Damtek, as Lagos GDF also fell to Ibadan Eleyele team by 2-4.
Ibadan Leo-Biga Heirs defeated Kano Nakudu by 41\2 to 3, while Ibadan Lead City Group succumbed to Lagos Ribadu by 3 goals to 31/2. Kano Bichi lost to Lagos Awolowo by 2-4 in the first game played on day (2) of the tourney, while Ibadan Lead City Group recorded victory against Kano services Shade with 61\2 to 5 and Ibadan Dream Team drew level with Lagos Ironclad- Tayia after 4-4 score line.
Speaking with newsmen after the club honoured the General Officer Commanding, 2 Division, Ibadan; Major General Sanusi Muazu, in a cocktail party held at the club, the chairman tournament committee, Mr. Semiu Adenekan, popularly known as DJ Semight, affirmed that entertainment aspect of the game cannot be undermine.
“There’s no way one can divorce entertainment from the game, after an eventful day, one should settle down and relax with drinks and good music and through interactions, business networking will be encourage among friends, so Polo brings friends more closer especially during major tournaments like this.
“We have had Sound saltan and Chidinma performed at the club and this was powered by the Nigeria Brewery who is also supporting us by providing us with their brands while radio personalities, Don ‘T’ and Seyi Akerele would be the compeers and DJ Semight will also be slamming at the closing event to keep our guests that came from far and wide enjoying every bit of their stay in Ibadan”, he noted.
