Veteran Nigerian entertainer and social commentator CharlyBoy has called for a renewed Nigeria where citizens’ lives, welfare and dignity are treated as national priorities.
The musician and activist, whose real name is Charles Oputa, made the appeal in an emotional message shared on his verified X account.
CharlyBoy Questions the State of Patriotism
Expressing his concerns about the country’s challenges, CharlyBoy said many Nigerians are struggling to maintain their love and confidence in the nation.
He questioned how citizens should continue expressing patriotism when they feel repeatedly disappointed by the system.
“I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK,” he wrote.
The entertainer said he wanted to regain the love for Nigeria that he once had, describing his vision of a country built around hope, dignity and opportunity.
Calls for a Nigeria That Protects Human Life
CharlyBoy said his dream was a Nigeria where human beings are valued and citizens do not become mere statistics.
He called for a healthcare system where people can access treatment without fear of financial hardship.
He expressed concern about situations where families struggle with medical costs and where survival may depend on economic circumstances.
Wants Government Policies That Improve Lives
The activist also criticised policies and decisions that he believes negatively affect ordinary Nigerians.
He called for a nation where government actions improve security, stability and quality of life.
According to him, citizens should not feel threatened by the same institutions established to protect them.
Appeals for Better Future for Young Nigerians
CharlyBoy expressed concern over the increasing number of young Nigerians leaving the country in search of better opportunities abroad.
He said he wanted a Nigeria where young people could build successful futures without being forced to seek opportunities elsewhere.
He also called for an environment where families would no longer experience painful losses caused by insecurity and hardship.
Leadership Should Mean Service
The activist said Nigeria needs leadership that prioritises service, accountability and responsibility.
He argued that political leadership should not be associated with oppression or poor governance.
According to him, the Nigeria he hopes for is one that reflects the dreams of citizens and the aspirations of future generations.
“Give Me a Country Worthy of That Love”
CharlyBoy said he still desires to love Nigeria but wants the country to become deserving of that affection.
“Not the Nigeria wey politicians describe from podiums. The Nigeria wey live inside our dreams. The Nigeria wey our parents believed in. The Nigeria wey our children deserve,” he wrote.
He ended his message with a renewed appeal for national transformation.
“I still want to love my country. But give me a country worthy of that love.”
