I am yet to get my PVC, says Alao-Akala

Former governor of Oyo State and governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, has declared that he is yet to get a Permanent Voter Card (PVC).
Alao-Akala told journalists in Ibadan on Monday that his failure to get the card was due to lapses of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which he said, was not prepared for the elections.
“It is a pity that the electoral umpire, INEC, is not prepared. The umpire is underfunded.
“As I am talking to you now, I, Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, the gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party in this state, have not been given my PVC. It is not that I have not gone to ask of it, but INEC is yet to produce it,’’ he said.
The former governor urged INEC to allow all registered voters with either the PVCs or the temporary voter cards to participate in the election, adding that INEC could not perform any magic before the election day.
Alao-Akala blamed the problem of the electoral umpire on lack of adequate funding by government, saying that this should be corrected for proper conduct of elections.
Speaking on his agenda if re-elected, he said that he was seeking re-election to obey the call of the people.
The former governor said that the people wanted him back having tasted two governments to determine which was beneficial.
Alao-Akala described General Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate’s comment that he would scrap the First Lady’s office if elected as unnecessary.
He said that such office was not in existence as far as the law was concerned, adding that there was no budget appropriated to such office.
“The First Lady’s office is not an establishment, but the creation of whoever is at the helms of affairs,’’ Alao – Akala said.
