Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, who is the Chairman, PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State have said “a vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general polls is a vote for unity of Nigeria.’’
The governors spoke at separate fora to mobilise support for Jonathan’s reelection.
Speaking in Sokoto, on Monday, at the inauguration of the Goodluck Jonathan/Namadi Sambo Presidential Campaign, Akpabio declared: “The PDP governors are the only ones replicating the transformation agenda of the Federal Government in their states.
“Nigerians have tremendous confidence in Jonathan and the PDP-led Federal Government in spite of the ongoing baseless propaganda by some cynics.
“Nigeria is now moving along with the current trends in the world in all aspects and the country is no longer lagging behind.’’
Speaking in Kontagora, Niger State, at the official flag-off campaign for the Niger State PDP 2015 general election, Wada said all Nigerians must support Jonathan’s reelection in the interest of peace.
Wada was represented at the occasion by his deputy, Yomi Awoniyi.
He said PDP remains a viable platform for sustainable development of the country.
“Another term in office for President Goodluck Jonathan will help in consolidating on the rapid change so far witnessed in all sectors that the nation’s economy has attained in the last four years under the present administration.
“The continuity project being clamoured for by well-meaning Nigerians for President Goodluck Jonathan will help in the stability of the country as all the programmes he initiated would have matured to fruition to meet the development needs of the country.
“The change that Nigerians yearn for is that which consolidates the capacity of a leader who established 14 new federal universities in four years; holds close to the heart, the future of the children of the poorest of the poor in establishing the Almajiri and out-of -school children education system,” he said.
Also at the Sokoto event, Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State and former Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, expressed optimism that Jonathan would be re-elected on February 14.
