Trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday maintained an upward trend with the market capitalisation improving further by 2.1 per cent due to price gains by blue chip companies.
The market capitalisation appreciated by N221 billion or 2.1 per cent to close at N10.717 trillion against N10.496 trillion.
Also, the All-Share Index rose by 654.03 basis points or 2.1 per cent to close higher at 31,744.84 against 31,090.81 achieved on Monday following price appreciation.
Nestle Nigeria topped the gainers’ table with a gain of N40 to close at N845 per share.
It was followed by Total with a gain of N15 to close at N180, while Guinness garnered N6.19 to close at N132.19 per share.
Nigerian Breweries appreciated by N3.70 to close at N143.70 and Conoil increased by N3.53 to close at N39.13 per share.
On the other hand, Seplat led the losers’ chart with a loss of one naira to close at N398 per share.
FBN Holdings trailed with a loss of 20k to close at N8.70, while Red Star Express declined by 15k to close at N3.60 per share.
Diamond Bank lost 13k to close at N4.05 and Skye Bank dropped six kobo to close at N2.40 per share.
Also, the volume of shares traded grew by 93.34 per cent with an exchange of 379.45 million shares worth N5.05 billion transacted in 4,138 deals.
This was against the 196.26 million shares valued N1.84 billion traded in 3,638 deals on Monday.
Access Bank emerged the most traded stock with 77.96 million shares worth N484.66 million.
Oando came second with 41.42 million shares valued N580.56 million, while FBN Holdings sold 35.07 million worth N309.80 million.
Zenith Bank sold 29.63 million shares worth N612.79 million and GTBank accounted for 24.31 million shares valued at N633.82 million.
