For allegedly killing his wife, a 25-year-old man, Buba Juli, has been arrested in Jigawa State.
Juli was accused by the state police command of killing his wife, Hafsat Muhammad.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abdul Jinjiri, disclosed in Dutse, the state capital, that the suspect committed the offence on January 18, in Bujaye Village, Kafin-Hausa Local Government area of the North-West state.
Jinjiri said the suspect allegedly connived with his friend, Adamu Muhammad, now at large, and committed the offence.
He said the suspect took his friend, Adamu, to the residence of his late wife’s parents to resolve a misunderstanding out-of-court, since the case was to be heard in an unnamed court on January 19.
Adamu said the deceased rejected the request to resolve the case out of the court and the suspects later connived and stabbed her with machetes in parts of her body.
“They completely cut off one of her hands,” he said.
He also said that the deceased’s relatives reported the case to the nearby police station.
Policemen rushed to the scene and took the victim to the nearby hospital, where she died.
He said the command succeeded in arresting the husband after combing the area, adding, “the command has launched a manhunt to arrest the other suspect, who is still at large.”
Jinjiri said that when interrogated, the suspect confessed to committing the offence under the influence of drugs.
