An uncultivated large expanse of land which is replica of a thick
forest and located at Oko-Oba extension along Akinmorin/Idi-Igba road in the Oyo-East Local Government area of Oyo State has been discovered as another hide-out by kidnappers.
The thick forest is about 100 acres.
The discovery was made by the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) Department of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Afijio Divisional Police Command, in Afijio Local Government area.

Freedom Online learned that some unidentified people on
motorcade stormed the ancient town of Oyo and headed towards the thick forest last Sunday.
In the evening, confirmed sources hinted that these unknown people commissioned a bakery for the supply of about N10,000 worth of loaves of bread.
Following a tip off, these unknown people were traced by detectives to the uncultivated thick large expanse of land.

Consequently, detectives from Afijio Divisional Police Command notified the Divisional Police Officer, Superintendent Odusina Julius Bolarinwa, who, in a swift response, informed the Oyo Area Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner K.R. Madayi for prompt action.
According to Odusina, ‘’On Monday morning, the Area Commander
mobilised all the five Divisional Police Officers under his command,
including men of the Operation Burst, and some men of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) who combed the thick forest in search of the suspected criminals.

‘’Although no one was found in the forest, there were traces of
footsteps and evidence of settlement by the suspected criminals’’.
In the same vein, an accredited Surveyor to the Alaafin, Kayode
Afolabi, informed that he received reports from some residents about
the thick forest being turned into kidnappers’ den, adding that he
reported the matter to the Police with a view to finding lasting
solution to the matter.
However, determined to rid Oyo metropolis of criminals’ hideouts, all the Divisional Police Officers led by the Area Commander besieged the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111, to intimate the Paramount Ruler about the development.

In his usual character as a monarch with a sense of devotion and
commitment to the well-being of his people, Oba Adeyemi joined the
Police team in a motorcade on a sight seen to the dreaded thick
forest.
The Alaafin eulogised both the Area Commander, all the Divisional
Police Officers in Oyo Area Command, the Special Intelligence team and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) for their pro-activeness, diligence, patriotic zeal, sincerity of purpose and mutual co-existence in checkmating crimes and criminal activities in the
metropolis.
The Royal Father also pledged to ensure that the dreaded thick forest
is cleared with bulldozers, while the Police will be assisted with
logistics, in order to aid their smooth operations.

Earlier, the Oyo Area Police Commander, Madayi, had called on the Alaafin to assist in the clearing of the thick forest and provision of
new patrol vehicles.
