Guardiola: Chelsea almost unstoppable

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, says it’s a ‘pity’ his team trail league leaders Chelsea by so big a margin, re-iterating his view that the Blues are now favourites to win the trophy this season because they are “almost unstoppable”.
City sit in third place in the Premier League standings, eight points behind Chelsea, following their 2-0 win over Sunderland on Sunday.
Antonio Conte’s side can increase that gap back to 11 points should they beat London rivals West Ham tonight, but should they lose at London Stadium, then City will be able to go to within five points of Chelsea if they win their game in hand against Stoke on Wednesday.
Guardiola believes City could have been challenging Chelsea for the title had they had a better start to the season, but concedes the Blues have an “almost unstoppable” momentum now.
“It’s a pity that the distance between Chelsea is so big,” Guardiola said.
“But that’s true. We are there behind, of course, Chelsea because they are almost unstoppable.”
He added of his side’s recent form: “I feel we are playing quite well and that’s why we are getting results.
“But now, of course, we are in a position when you arrive in March and April, every game if you win, you stay; if you lose, you are out.
“In the Premier League, in the cup, in the Champions League. The players know, we know, the club knows, if we are not able to win the next game we will be out.”
