Grandmother, 65, gives birth to quadruplets

A Berlin hospital on Tuesday confirmed that a 65-year-old German grandmother gave birth to quadruplets on Sunday.
Doctors in the hospital said the quadruplets, three boys and a girl born prematurely at 26 weeks were in good health and having good chance of survival.
The doctors said the four babies, born by Caesarean section on May 19, weighed between 655 grammes and 960 grammes.
Meanwhile, a network which had been monitoring the woman’s pregnancy said Annegret Raunigk already had 13 children and seven grandchildren.
The network said the announcement of her pregnancy had sparked public debate in Germany about its merits.
It said Raunigk, an English and Russian teacher in Berlin, had received fertility treatment in Ukraine and was the oldest woman in the world to have had quadruplets.
It added that although other women of her age and older ones had also given birth but none had quadruplets.
