The wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji on Thursday inaugurated Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) Widows Foundation to eradicate poverty among widows in Ikole Local Government Area.
Dr Oyebanji inaugurated other projects such as Ikole town hall, Chairman’s Quarters and legislators buildings renovated by the Chairman of Ikole LGA, Mr Sola Olominu, in Ikole-Ekiti.
In her address, Oyebanji commended Olominu for successfully completing the various projects in record time and giving priority to the widows.
The wife of the governor noted that care for the widows and orphans was one of her major programs in the administration of her husband, which she would soon unveil and start promoting.
” I want to commend the Chairman of Ikole Local Government, Mr Olominu for these laudable projects; honestly I am impressed with his achievement.
” As we can all witness, this is as a result of our kind hearted governor, who believes in developing Ekiti, because my husband has genuine passion for Ekiti and it is evident with various projects that Olominu is currently executing.
” It is the good work of governor Biodun Oyebanji that Olominu is currently exhibiting.
” I want to commend him for giving widows priority; widows and orphans are my proposed pet project which I will soon launch before the one year of my husband in office expires.
” I want us to continue to pray for Oyebanji and  his administration for God’s  wisdom, guidance and blessings to take good care of Ekiti workers , pensioners and all indigenes of the state,” he said.
Earlier, the Chairman, Olominu thanked God and Gov. Biodun Oyebanji for the financial support to execute the projects.
Olominu explained that within 18 months of his second term in office, he had been able to carry out verifiable achievements including reconstruction and renovation of Ikole town hall, renovation of Ikole local government legislative building, among others.
Olominu said his administration decided to domesticate the six point agenda of Biodun Oyebanji’s administration by touching the lives of the less privileged individuals in Ikole-Ekiti.
The chairman noted that his administration would be launching BAO widows foundation, first of its kind and 100 widows would benefit from cash gifts and palliative on monthly basis.
” With just 18 months of my second term in office my administration can proudly say that in terms of projects, we have been able to imprint our footprint on the sand of time with veritable achievements.
“It should be noted that the success of these projects is attributed to the undiluted supports being enjoyed from the state government at all times, coupled with prompt release of funds by Gov. Oyebanji.
” He has created enabling environment such that local government and local council development areas are currently enjoying.
” I believe with the help of the wife of our governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, the program will be sustained,” he said.
Olominu, however, thanked the traditional Obas for their support and fatherly advice.
NAN reports that Dr Oyebanji  and Olominu presented cash gifts and palliative to the widows who were beneficiaries of the foundation during the program.
