Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has expressed sadness over the death of Sheikh Nasir Muhammad Nasir, the Chief Imam of Waje Juma’at Mosque in Fagge Local Government Area of the state.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Bature Dawakin-Tofa, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, on Wednesday in Kano.
Yusuf described the deceased as a distinguished Islamic scholar of repute who contributed immensely toward the development of Islam not only in Kano but to the entire Muslim ummah globally.
“It is with total submission to the will of Allah that with  deepest shock we received the news of the death of  eminent scholar, Sheikh Nasir Muhammad Nasir, an Imam, a community leader and a peace builder.
“He had been a man of his words who lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation by all and his death created a wide vacuum difficult to fill.
“On behalf of the government and people of Kano state, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and we will continue to pray for Almighty Allah SWT to grant his soul eternal rest.
“May Jannatul Firdausi be his final abode and give us fortitude to bear the loss,” the governor said.
