glo_logoLike an avatar, the giant telecommunications outfit, Globacom, on Saturday night hit the Coal City of Enugu and held it spellbound for hours with a scintillating concert, the Glo Slide & Bounce, that will remain evergreen in the memories of the audience.

Held at the Golden Royal Hall at Independence Layout , the Glo Slide & Bounce concert that night set new standards that will send experts in the entertainment industry back to the showbiz laboratory to find the cause for the new ” infectious entertainment virus” that dominated the airwaves during the all-exciting show.

Contrary to established showbiz convention where organisers use big artistes to draw the curtain on shows, Globacom, in demonstration of its absolute confidence in the dexterity of Mr. Incredible and Africa’s Rapper Number 1, kicked off the show with MI.

The Tabaraba State-born entertainer was at his most incredible form at the show as he caused entertainment earthquake in the hall when practically every person was on his or her feet in response to the baritone voice of the rapper who prides himself as”down -to-earth-not-because-am-short”. MI delivered his classic hits with acoustic splendour to the delight of the mammoth crowd.

Like the master that he is, MI, who is one of the three Judges in Africa’s Biggest music TV Reality Show, the Glo X- Factor, brought his magisterial experience from the show to the fore and used the occasion to mentor some selected members of the audience the act of singing in line with the desire of the organizers of the show, Globacom, to help Nigerian youths to discover their unlimited potentials.

The tone for the night of fun and entertainment was thus set and Nigeria’s biggest contribution to African dance drama and icon of folklore music, the masked one, Lagbaja hit the audience and energised them with his signature lyrics.

Again, the saxophonist played a fast one on the ever- responsive audience. While all eyes were glued to the massive screen on stage and his band boys were already thrilling the audience, Lagbaja entered the hall from the back with his soul mate, his saxophone, bellowing melodious tones.

The soloist, Waje ensured that there was no “dulling” in the hall with her spectacular and all-round energetic performance. The stunningly pretty Chee the Voice sent the mouths of everybody in the hall agape with her enchanting beauty, cool dancing steps and powerful voice, described as one of the best in the industry. Omawumi, the Waffi girl was at her best and “scattered the ground”. Bez and Burna Boy ensured that the audience had a mixture of both folk music and love songs, accompanied by Bez’s dexterious stringing of the guitar.

Ace comedian,Basketmouth, was practically the expert on man and woman relationship for the night as he sent the audience reeling with laughter with his “tutorials” on how to manage relationships, giving new “expos” to the lovebirds in the house. His Basetmouthy uncensored segment was fully complimented by the spontaneous rib-cracking jokes from an equally talented stand-up comedian and dramatist, Okey Bakassi, who anchored the show.

The “10 over 10” coroner, Naeto C, was the headline act of the night of fun as he assembled the audience in a-tale-by-the-moonlight-setting and demonstrated that he indeed is the “Yes Boss”.

The Glo Slide & Bounce Concert, a musical show by the giant network, Globacom, kicked off in Abuja four weeks ago and the ship of the concert had berthed in cities such as Benin and Ibadan before coming to Enugu. Other cities listed to enjoy the unusual experience the show offers include Port Harcourt, Calabar, Uyo and Lagos.

Beside using the show to introduce to the Nigerian people, the newly signed Glo Ambassadors, Glo Slide & Bounce is also primarily, a wake up call to the Nigerian youths that no matter the challenges of life, they can be whatever they desire to be as the network offers them unlimited opportunities to exercise their potentials and realise their dreams.
