Team Nigeria added three more medals to its impressive haul at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on Saturday evening, with the men’s 4x100m relay team and Ruth Usoro securing silver medals and Enku Ekuta adding a bronze in judo, taking the country’s overall tally to 22 medals.

The men’s 4x100m quartet of Favour Ashe, Kayinsola Ajayi, Nicholas Fakorede and Udodi Onwuzurike produced a thrilling performance to claim silver in a tightly contested final, clocking a season’s best of 38.12 seconds.

Australia narrowly took the Commonwealth title in 38.07 seconds, just five hundredths of a second ahead of Nigeria. Canada crossed the line ahead of the Nigerians but was subsequently disqualified, confirming Team Nigeria’s silver medal.

In the women’s Long Jump, Ruth Usoro delivered another medal for Nigeria with an impressive 6.87m (+2.7) leap on her opening attempt.

Usoro’s mark stood throughout the competition to earn her the silver medal, with England’s Jazmin Sawyers taking gold after jumping 6.93m.

The result represents a significant improvement for Usoro on the Commonwealth stage. After finishing sixth at the previous Commonwealth Games, she returned four years later to secure a place on the podium and add another silver medal to Nigeria’s haul in Glasgow.

Nigeria also celebrated success on the judo mat as Enku Ekuta fought her way to bronze in the women’s -63kg category.

Ekuta bounced back strongly through the repechage following a quarterfinal defeat before producing an emphatic performance against Zambia’s Rita Kabinda in the bronze medal contest.

The Nigerian needed less than three minutes to defeat Kabinda by ippon, sealing her place on the Commonwealth Games podium and delivering another medal for Team Nigeria.

In the women’s 4x100m relay final, the Nigerian quartet of Miracle Ezechukwu, Jennifer Chukwuka Obi, Olayinka Olajide and Prestina Ochonogor finished sixth in 43.74 seconds. Jamaica claimed gold in 42.65 seconds, while Canada took silver in 42.76 seconds.

Team Nigeria closes Saturday’s competition with 10 gold, seven silver and five bronze medals for a total of 22 medals at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
