Gay marriage not of God, says Anglican Bishop

Bishop of Diocese of Lagos West, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. James Olusola Odedeji, on Thursday, condemned the United States (U.S.) Supreme Court ruling that upheld same-sex marriage as a legal right, saying “it is not of God“.
Odedeji criticised the court ruling while ordaining some priests and deacons at the Anglican Church of Ascension, Opebi, Lagos.
He urged the Federal Government not to have anything to do with same-sex marriage as it was not scriptural.
“I have ordained some men of God for the purpose of proclamation of the gospel; they are to go out and show lights where we have darkness.
“Whoever approves gay marriage is a man of darkness or a woman of darkness; and what we are saying is that, that is barbaric, that is not scriptural; it is not of God. God will not allow that to happen in this country. I believe that the government of this nation will not allow that to come to stay.
“So, if that one is approved somewhere else, it cannot be approved here. We disassociate ourselves from anything that has to do with gay marriage wherever it is being institutionalised.“
