The Ogun State Government has confirmed that its state-backed airline, Gateway Air, will begin scheduled flight operations across key Nigerian cities starting April 13, 2026.

The announcement was made in Abeokuta by the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade.

According to him, the new airline will operate routes linking Iperu with Abuja, as well as connecting Abuja to major destinations including Port Harcourt, Calabar, and Jos.

He added that additional services will cover the Iperu-Kano route, expanding connectivity between northern and southern Nigeria.

Akinmade disclosed that flights will run on selected weekdays—Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—to ensure consistent and reliable travel schedules.

He noted that ticket prices for one-way economy class will start from ₦100,000,  positioning the airline as an affordable option for domestic travelers.

The initiative is part of the state government’s broader plan to boost **transport infrastructure, improve regional connectivity, and stimulate economic growth through efficient air travel services.

Akinmade described the launch as a major step toward strengthening the aviation sector while delivering customer-focused services to passengers.

He advised intending travelers to make early bookings and follow official channels for updates on flight schedules and other travel information.

The airline also provided contact details, including phone lines and email addresses, for inquiries and reservations.

The introduction of Gateway Air is expected to enhance mobility and support business activities across Nigeria’s major cities.
