FUOYE debunks VC’s involvement in Agbeleoba’s travail

Contrary to allegations by the Ekiti State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) that the arrest by the Directorate of State Security (DSS) of General Manager of “Our Peoples FM,” Dr. Samuel Opeyemi Agbeleoba, was as a result of an alleged sexual harassment case against the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, the university has risen in defence of the Vice-Chancellor.

It said the university Vice-Chancellor had no hands in the alleged arrest and detention of Agbeleoba as being peddled by the NUJ, saying the NUJ goofed when it linked the arrest to the unsubstantiated and unfounded case of sexual harassment in the online space.

Specifically, the NUJ goofed when it said the Vice-Chancellor was behind Agbeleoba’s arrest as a result of the sexual harassment case against the Vice-Chancellor.

NUJ Ekiti had said “from all investigations and indications, the union can confirm that the arrest of Dr. Yemi Agbeleoba is connected to the current sexual harassment against the Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE, Professor Fasina”

This was far from it, according to a statement by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede, saying the union goofed when it linked the Vice-Chancellor and the unsubstantiated case of sexual harassment with the alleged Agbeleoba’s travail in the custody of the DSS.

The DSS arrested Agbeleoba over his alleged involvement on personal matters which was completely different from the false claims of sexual harassment against the Vice-Chancellor.

However, the statement described the report being circulated on social media alleging that the institution’s Vice-Chancellor was behind the arrest as not only false but lies from the pit of hell.

It reads: “We want to put the record straight that the Vice-Chancellor has no hands in the arrest and detention of Dr. Samuel Opeyemi Agbeleoba.

“Whatever issues Dr. Agbeleoba has with the DSS is known to him and the secret agents as we did not orchestrate or mastermind his arrest and detention even as the case of sexual harassment being touted about is unfounded and we want the public to disregard this false enterprise.

“It is also ridiculous for the NUJ to tag Agbeleoba’s arrest and detention with the unsubstantiated case of sexual harassment. This is grossly unfounded and baseless”.
